They represent 1/6 of the total class time that students signed up for.

What precisely would you suggest? Telling students (60 in one class, 50
in another) "sorry, but the course this time is only going to cover 5/6 of
the material it has covered in past Summers.  We hope you don't mind paying
full price for 5/6 the material."

That doesn't seem reasonable to me.  Again, missing 2-3 days is not a problem
as tests can be scheduled.  But not almost 2 weeks.

I don't have flu for two weeks.  If something serious would happen, then
we get other faculty to cover.  But not for this kind of thing.

I do.  We simply have to agree to disagree.

1.5+ weeks is simply _too_ long.  It always has been.  Why the WCCC was
expanded from a weekend + 2-3 weekdays is beyond me.  Even that would allow
a far excessive 10 rounds...
