No, because Kb7! gives the fastest mate. Every variant ends in 44. (6.) c7-c8#. Many engines prefer c4 at first, which ends in mate too - but later, so it's clearly second best only. Btw. an idea in the position is, to build a *cage* around the black king by Kb7. Watch the squares controlled by White. After seeing that cage, a human would only have to check the pawn race. Engines obviously have problems due to forward pruning, because at a fist glance, Kb7 looks no good :-)) it lets the a-pawn run towards a1... Regards, M.Scheidl
