I had failed to disable my Norton Anti-virus software prior to downloading. When I downloaded the Chessbase update, the result was a badly messed-up CB8 program. Later, after deinstalling CB8 and then reinstalling from disk, I then remembered to disable the anti-virus software and the CB download then worked perfectly. Apparently, Chessbase and Norton are enemies. Bob D.
