Yes, it seems difficult to track down the original sources for the tests (which is why I hope you'll ultimately be successful in gathering them together for the NACCA site!). I personally don't know much about their origins, except that I think the method for using Quick Test is described by its creator here: http://members.aon.at/computerschach/quick/quicke.htm Also, I don't have the book with me now, but isn't there an article concerning an old test suite in "Advances in Computer Chess" (Vol 3?)?
