I have found Shredder 7.04 very erratic and unreliable for analysis, often producing nonsense lines, and I don't really understand how it achieved top spot on the SSDF list. However after using it to play several games versus established chess masters in correspondence chess, it scores very high. So I have concluded that only the selected move is to be considered as correct, and everything else (analysis etc) is to be disregarded. There MUST be some bugs involved, but apparently they don't seriously affect the playing strength. In other words, it finds the best move despite itself. Of course in correspondence chess the hash tables are cleared before calculating each move, so would not run into your particular problem. WP
