So if an organization names itself "international", then it can hold a world
championship?

The NBA, NHL, and MLB all have teams from multiple countries, so they are
international, despite what they named themselves several decades ago when they
_were_ national. One of these leagues (I think MLB) considered having teams from
somewhere in Asia (I think China) a while back. The NFL considered having teams
from Canada or even England.

Obviously not everything is in the name. So what is it that gives an
organization the right/priveledge of calling it's event the world championship?
