Shrug. For that you'll have to wait, because in terms of prestige or sales I can
definitely miss it now.

I would like to play anyway, if possible, for fun, and to test new stuff. Like I
said I will even take a handicap if necessary, although it will be annoying that
I have to take it to live inside the dictated framework.

Currently what I see is that CCT is gradually losing stature and prestige. I
have some loyalty to the event as I was a regular at the early ones, and then
most important programs were there. Now as a rule they don't show up.

Also, for the record, the most demanded feature for chess engines

Chessbase have their own site playchess.com which is pretty popular. You get the
interface and a free license with every Chessbase product you buy. So they are
in competition with ICC and don't think they have to support it. I won't ask
them to unless and until playing CCT is professionally important, but currently
I won't bother them to put in workhours for my fun only.
