I'd say it's an upgrade for any processor intensive task.  The rest you won't be
able to tell the difference, most likely.

For example:  If you want bleeding edge chess, the 64bit 2.2ghz is pretty tough
to beat right now.  The other types of applications that will like this chip are
probably high-end video authoring, 3D model rendering, digital sound processing,
heavy engineering analysis and modeling (as in materials stress analysis and
such like number crunching), etc.  The rest of the applications you might use
will not be sorry they are running on this chip.
