Subject: Junior-Crafty hardware user experiment - 14th game

A major C92 mainline this time, involving a pawn sac by Junior's opening book.

Junior 8.0.0.2 - Crafty 19.4
[D]r3rbk1/6p1/3p1q1p/1ppb1P2/1n6/R4N1P/1P1B1PP1/1B1QR1K1 b - - 0 1

Crafty's novelty: 22. ...Qxb2 - isn't that clearly the most obvious move anyway?

NCO and ECO only have this line with 22. ...Rxa3 and judge unclear and/or equal,
and the MegaDatabase quotes the same source, some Finnish game Rantanen-Ojanen
from 1990.
At least 22. ..Qxb2 is worth a comment and some explanations IMO.

The Fritz book has some more but it is not conclusive.

As it is Crafty seemed to reach equality and maybe more, but Junior managed to
save itself. I am positive we will see this line again in later games, so maybe
we will learn more.

Unfortunately Junior crashed after displaying its draw claim at move 103
("unexpected exit by ChessProgram8.exe"), so this time there is only the raw PGN
with the moves. As both programs showed the draw result on their boards, there
was no reason for a referee to get involved.

(all comments without any warranty at all of course)

Standing: Junior 3 - Crafty 4 ( 7 draws)

Peter
