Subject: 100:1 NPS Challenge

Author: Slater Wold

Date: 06:05:55 12/17/03

I guess I will be running the 100:1 NPS challenge. Here's the info:

I will use any books.bin & bookc.bin that Bob asks me to. The book.bin will be
created from enormous.pgn.

I will use any book Amir asks me to.

All games will be played on a P4 3.06Ghz. They will both have as much hash as
possible, but Crafty will probably have a bit more.

Crafty will play on ICC (Project), via Winboard.
Junior will play on ICC (TheHate), via Fritz 7 @ auto232.

The time control will be 6000 0 for Crafty, and 60 0 for Junior. The time on
ICC will reflect 6000 0, but in Chessbase the time setup for Junior will be 60
0. (This is a 'nuisance' in Ebbi's autoplayer, but works nicely for us here!)
Everyone should feel free to 'refree' to make sure Junior doesn't use more time
than it's allowed.

Ponder will be OFF. It's not a 100:1 NPS challenge if Junior pondered the
correct move for 3 hours. And the short amount of time Crafty would have to
ponder Junior's moves would mean little.

The matches will start around 1/1/04. If it goes long enough, I will have to
take about a week break for CCT6, but will start back up as soon as that is
complete. (If my FX51 is complete by then, there will be no break at all.)

This will NOT be a race to 6 wins. Just a straight 10 games. More than likely,
after this match is complete, I will run the same exact match with a time
control of 3000 0 for Crafty & 30 0 for Junior.
