It is possible to rearrange the games so the ones you are most interested in are analyzed first. This rearrangement must be done before starting the analysis. Rearrangement using Fritz means creating a new database and then copying the games into it in the desired order. [Rearrangement can be much easier using CB8.] Here is another tip which will save you loads of heartache: If you terminate the analysis using the stop button, you should immediately go to the File menu and use one of the save options to save the game last analyzed. [Do this before hitting F12.] Otherwise, you may lose it. The other games will have been automatically saved to the database. It is a mistake to start with too many games, because you may find yourself using the Stop button too many times to end the automatic analysis. After awhile, you will learn how many moves of a game will be analyzed in a given amount of time. That depends on several things including the clock rate of your processor. On my 3 GHz Pentium IV with 2GB RAM, with the HASH Table size set at 256MB, the following settings will analyze only 20 moves [after exiting the book opening] of a typical error-ridden amateur blitz game overnight: Calc Time = 240 Threshold = 10 Append Annotations: Verbose and Graphical Side: Both Don't forget to purchase and use Fritz Powerbook. The 2004 version should out in a couple of months. Your next BIG step is to acquire and start using Chessbase 8.0 with the Megabase database. : ) [You also "need" HIARCS, Shredder, Tiger, Junior, and Crafty at the very least to get different analyses to be compared.] Bob D.
