F8 only accepts UCI engines , so the wb2uci (winboard to uci) is a tool to fake F8 into thinking into thinking a winboard engine is a uci is a uci engine -- it is essentialy conduit between the winboard engine and the F8 GUI..not all winboard engines will work work in F8, but I know it works with crafty - besides acting as a conduit, it is also tool to set engines parameters through the gui as oppsed to some ini or crafty.rc file- so it also has an utility function that some people may appreciate besides acting as an conduit > >Thanks again while I go ahead and download. I already downloaded Yace Paderborn, >Ruffian 1.0 and Ruffian 1.01. All UCI engines. They play quite well. > >Brian
