A bit over a year ago, my mother bought a laptop. She payed good money to get a decently equipped Pentium 4 1.7Ghz, which doesn't last on batteries very long and can be quite noise when loaded. A week ago, my girlfriend bought a Centrino (Banias) 1.5Ghz basically for peanuts. It's WAY faster (> Athlon XP 2400), uses less power, and completely silent. Centrino/Banias seems to be the king of the portable hill right now. -- GCP
