The 2004 edition wont play much more differently i presume, the statistics are just updated gradually. Ofcourse statistics are one way of eliminating the mistakes (usually tactical) but its not the ideal way; like discussed more often in this forum, i think ChessAssistant is doing a better job in this respect (opening books/databases) but its not beginners stuff. Our little program Bookbuilder (far from perfect yet, yes, i know) will next year evolve to something different than Bookup (and Chessbase/Chessassistant) ie will be mostly aimed for beginners Elo < 1600 who despite advice not to dig into openings, want to get some confidence in this field some beginners like openings, some not; doesnt matter (as long as they know its only a little part of chess). best regards, jef
