Well, it seems hiarcs 9 engine is very well suited for rapid and blitz games,
but also performs in the top 10 engines when playing at classical speed.
For myself, i found certain setting for Hiarcs 9 that might interest you,
though i didn't test it much but i believe it improves the original engine a few
elo points. You might want to give it a try, so here you have the setting
Selectivity = 7 (default is 7)
Contempt value = 0 (default is 0) <- if you change this vale you can improve
the engine performance against weaker engines, but also fail against stronger
opponents which at least does not happen at blitz time controls since hiarcs 9
is one of the best now
mark -> Agressive playing style
Position Learning
Smart Search
Use Tablebases and set it to 2 (default is 2)
Depth Threat 0 (default is 2)
Don't enable
combinations
hypermodern style
i think this 2 features slow down the search a bit when
playing, so you'd better try them to solve test positions
