Go up one level in this thread
I think these are good posts. this subject is interesting to me. I have found when there is competition, emotions can and usually are elevated. It is enjoyable for some to see a competitor very "cool" about himself or his machine knowing it is capable of winning or placing in the top five. I have been racing circle track for several years. very competitive. Some demand that all competitors control their emotions and be conservative in their comments, conversation, etc. Some demand that the only the competitors that can win are to control their emotions and be conservative. Some laugh when lower level competitors make strong competitive comments that they cannot backup in competition. I can still get emotional with some of this, not to the degree as when I was younger. There are programs that are rated 1500 at ICC. If the programmer of this 1500 program made the same comment that Frank made, would GCP reply with same, I doubt it, GCP would feel neutral or laugh at patzer. GCP has high rated winning program. Frank is involved with high rated winning program. This whole business is based on winning and losing, competition. If either one of these guys wants to express emotion in their posts it does not bother me. If either one of these guys is very excited about their program, it doesnt bother me. In circle track racing, in the pits, or garage area, we do not have moderators. There is a large class of people that I race against that can be very challenging to try to moderate. This is a part of my competition that I have to deal with. This is one of the things that separates me from most in the pits. sometimes I feel we need more moderation at our races. some tracks moderate more than others. some do not moderate at all, these can be very bad for those that pull from "out of town". Having said all of this sometime I think we might moderate too much. I did not think it was so bad that Frank was all "pumped up" about the new 2.0 version. Big difference if Frank had said negative comment about GCP program directly. I dont think this was done. also I think new versions should be advertised here, discussed, etc. maybe this is where we need different "headers" to choose, so that posts can be in certain categories. I have purchased Deep Sjeng. very satisfied customer, fun program, no bugs. I have purchased Ruffian 2.0. do not know yet. I hope that Kurt and Sarah have tournaments with these two programs. we will see where they place. kburcham
