Although it is not required, most people play against crafty using a GUI program. It is possible to use Crafty with Winboard, Arena, Chess Partner, Fritz 8 and many other GUI's. http://www.aarontay.per.sg/Winboard/Winboard.html To see the position without GUI, just hit the letter "d".
