Chessbase 8.0 has no UCI support.

Just tried it with the old winboard adapter from Chessbase.
It seems to work.
There is no Multivariation support and Showthinkingmove of course.

Create a new folder C:\Program Files\Chessbase\Engines\crafty and move your
Crafty executable to the new folder.
Rename the crafty executable to "crafty.exe"
Get the Winboard adapter, rename it to "crafty.eng" and copy it in your
C:\Program Files\Chessbase\Engines directory.

The winboard adapter is available here for example:
