I am not sure when the operator of Jonny actually spoke up during the game. I am not sure when Stefan actually spoke about this issue during the game. I am not sure who the first person to speak of the issue during the game. It seems from playing the game through each move with Shredder 7.04, that Stefan was observing wild eval swings. Stefan saw mate scores start around move 35. Stefan saw his score go to 0 after Shredder moved 37.Rg4. Stefan could see that his program had problems. Stefan could see that Shredder allowed his opponent the three move repetition rule for draw. Under normal circumstances this would be a draw by repetition. The operator of Jonny decided that since his opponent had buggy program and Jonny position was lost anyway, that he would just give Stefan the full point, fully aware that Jonny would lose the game. To me this sets a precedent: 1. A person can enter two programs in a tournament. program A shows a problem so program B in a losing position gives full point to program A. 2. A friend can give a full point during the game to another friend. 3. In the same situation, one program because of differences in the past does not give full point. 4. now a rule will have to made, when can an operator give, and when can an operator accept points. 5. someone will have to decide about other bugs. what bugs will allow an operator to give a full point. what bugs will not be allowed to give a full point. 6. if Stefan had problems in a losing position, would he had given a full point to Jonny or other lower rated program? some notes using Shredder 7.04 Shredder will not play 35.Rg4 as it did in game. instead wants 35.Bc4 and shows mate in 24 [D] 1rr3k1/p4q2/3Q4/8/4p2R/2p5/PPP1B2P/1K6 w - - Shredder will not play 37.Rg4 if Shredder plays this move the eval goes to 0 but Shredder played this move in the game.
