store shelves in american chains like *compusa* are considered prime shopping center real estate. One pays dearly for the priviledge of having an item stocked in viewable place. I do not know the current market rate there, but there was a time you had to give this kind of store 20thousand dollars(us) worth of free product to get a foot of shelving-and a foot in the door-- If your product sold well, then they would reorder or pay for the second order, otherwise you were screwed. If you are willing to pay the kind of markup on your boutique chess products that this entails, as well as waiting for all the old stale crap to be sold out before anything useful is newly introduced, then shop at these stores for chess engines. but i will tell ya that anything worthwhile there will already be in the remaindered bins. I am grateful for stores like ICD and the distribution model which the internet creates for us. we should use it. because without it, there can be no motor for commercial chess products anyway. Yeah there is mahestic chess and chesmeister in some chains... it's like going to McDonald's for a salad...in theory you can do it...but why?
