Testgames Crafty 15.18 (Junior-Version) against Fritz-Engines: Conditions: - K6-II-300, 16-20MB HT - 10 min./game - one book for all: general-tree of fritz5.32 (has no specialisation for one engine) - nodes per seconds (middle game/late middle game): 120.000-150.000/ 170.000 - F5-Autoplayer (without permanent brain) Crafty 15.18 against Fritz5.32 3:7 (final beta) Junior5 1,5:8,5 Hiarcs6 3,5:6,5 Fritz5.16 2:4 Junior46 3,5:2,5 Nimzo99 5,5:4,5 (final version) General impressions (blitz !): Crafty is still not as good as the professionals, but especially against Fritz5.16, Junior46 and Nimzo it has always a very good chance to get good results. The two new top-engines Junior5 and F5.32 are much better than the rest of the field (not only against Crafty), including their predessors and the new nimzo99. The performance of Crafty 15.18 against the engine-sisters is in average at 35-38%. According to first tests the crafty version 16.01 seems to be stronger. I would not be surprised if this engine enters the rankings of the professionals.
