Typical FIDE mess-up: * a knockout format, favours progression on the basis of rapid and blitz games, not classic chess, after draws in so-called "classic" games. The original suggestion of a big Swiss to pick out the best 6-7 players, and then proper classic knockout thereafter, was MUCH better. * It's not classic chess at all. Time 90min for 40 moves, then 15min to finish with 30sec increment throughout does NOT favour high quality chess / ending play. Politneness does not allow me to vent my feelings fully. I think there will be a player revolt, and the mess will continue.
