Anyway, if >this will become true we will be the most satisfied because we will get an >engine for less than 15§ not one for 50§ or even more I agree. I think Chessbase should do the following: 1) When buying a new engine, the old versions of the same product should be included. (ie, Shredder 8 should include Shredder 7, Shredder 6, Shredder 5.32, etc). This won't be much of a help for fanatics like me who buy every Chessbase engine as soon as it's released, but it would be a bonus for johnny-come-latelys. (Or maybe it would be a help, because all the Shredder versions could be "refreshed" by inserting the same CD). 2) CDs should include a variety of weaker engines that play anwhere between 1000 and 1800 Elo as-is, without having to use the handicap levels. At the moment only Crafty and Comet are included, but these can hardly be called "weak". The free engine Turing would be a good start at the bottom end of the scale (strength about 1000?) but there's a big gap up to Bam Bam, the next weakest Chessbase engine at roughly 2100. (Sure, there are the handicap levels, but I have the impression that when a strong engine is handicapped it just makes silly mistakes. I want engines that play weakly without playing stupidly).
