I have a good spare mother board and an AMD 300Mhz chip and am considering building a strictly DOS chess computer to house my two favorite programs, Rebel and MChess. Has anyone considered doing this? Any disadvantages? I think I can put the whole thing together for way less than $500. I would not need a modem, fancy sound, fancy color etc. Considering the strength and features of these programs, it would serve my chess needs far into the future.
