I have a version with a form of singular extension and it find this in two and a half minutes. The same version without singular extension finds it in nine and a half hours. After 1. Rxc5, black has to play 1. ... Qxc5, and this is +3 or so for white. It takes a while, like 25 minutes or so, to get to +3. Other times I've tried this experiment it's come back at +2 or +3 in a few minutes, so I don't know why it's taking so long all of a sudden. This is on a P2/300. bruce
