Sometime when analysing using Chess Tiger in infinite mode, there will be a displayed evaluation, (1.7 pawns in one case I saw). This eval will stay relatively stable from 0 seconds/9 plies to 1+ hours/20 plies. Then when you execute the first two moves in Tiger's PV (which are also forced moves in the position, a forced exchange of pieces) the Tiger eval instantly jumps to a completely different value, (0.7 pawns in the case mentioned above) and stays at or near this new evaluation value. What causes this behavior? It is not an asymmetrical eval, like crafty has for locked pawn structures, since both a white and black move are involved and it is now still the same side to move. Is it because of some type of evaluation pre-processing? Or is there some other reason? Robin
