Crafty 19.08 SE is slightly different from standard Crafty. It is Bob Hyatt's
code modified slightly by me. Source is available to anyone by request.

For Crafty , it stands for "special edition" - besides personalities, it
includes added features such as delay move, modifiable piece values, additional
pawn extensions and more aggressive time -- usage these are all different from
standard crafty. My next step is to write the code that enables all this from
the command line or crafty.rc file. That way you can have "true" standard
crafty or a tweaked crafty from one exectuavle. Even slecting the "standard"
crafty from Crafty SE will give a slihtly tweaked crafty. Most of the other
current evaluation settings in original Crafty are tweakable now, you just go
through the code to see which ones you want to tweak. I have configue a special
wb2uci.eng that reflects these options, so that they may be selectable from a
GUI - as opposed to the crafty.rc file. Crafty SE runs better under the Fritz
8 GUI than the Arena GUI - I'm not sure why.

For the source, send me a an email with "source", I will now have a mailing list
for source changes.

For the executable mailing list , send me an e-mail with the word "include" in
the subject list. Those on the mailing list will always receive the latest when
available. Leo also now carries the SE verisioin on his website. His version
will all be exactly the sameone that I email - so there is no need to get
another copy if you are on my email list (I'm trying to save Leo's bandwidth).

For those that enjoy Crafty SE, remember to thank Bob Hyatt - it is his program
- He has written almost all of the 40,000 lines+ of code - I have written just
a few line of code in comparision. He will all the code in standard crfaty in
due time I am sure. I think I need to clean the code up, so that the user can
get true standard crafty or Crafty SE , based on his own desire from one
exectuable.

Best,

Michael Byrne
