I wonder why Fritz and many other engines even think Qxd5. For all the reasons
you said it is not a good move. And by playing Qe3+ white wins a tempo and black
puts his king on fire (Thoughts of a stupid chess player like me).

Deep Fritz 8 thinks about Qxd5 for a while, but changes it's mind very soon:
