Subject: Crafty 296.03 SE vs. Nuclear Shredder Octotron 23.2 Gamma

Author: Ed Trice

A rare email message arrived enveloped in TMTP format (Tachion Mail Transaction
Protocol) this evening. Much of it was unabled to be read, but the header
information contained IP addresses and proxy info with dates suggesting the year
of transmission was 2019. There were an amazing number of parallels in one of
the email threads, reprinted below....

Subject: Crafty 296.03 SE vs. Nuclear Shredder Octotron 23.2 Gamma

I was trying to get the 8-piece tablebases to load on my new Octium VI and was
surprised that it took 15 seconds to load the entire set into RAM. Has anyone
else had such problems?

Nuclear Shredder found an improvement to the famous Vladislav Konjuhov vs. Erdni
Urjubdshzirov SSR Championshipship Game from back in 2017 during one of its
permanent hash table learning sessions. Crafty 295.22 could not find the draw
(my old Crafty program) but Crafty 296.03 SE draws it with no problem on my 150
GHz Octium VI with 64 TB RAM.

The was the tiebraker (selected from ECO volume F) which Konjuhov won with just
15 seconds left on his clock, Urjubdshzirov needing just 2 more moves to get the
draw by the 200 move rule.

Yes, I had problems as well. You need to reset the Quantum Tunneling Bit on your
Octocessor. Hold down ALT-CTL-DEL-SHIFT-TAB then hit CAPS LOCK twice. If that
does not work, think the word "Tunnel" and look at the Cerebral Task Manager.

This is very old news. OmniChess published this line on ChessAether about 2
minutes after the original match. You must not have had enough VirtualEuro for
your subscription that minute! Most people I know have seen this already. Get
with it!
