There will be many customers who have bought Shredder 6 and 7 before, which included the "classic" GUI with it's special features like easier EPD handling or Endgame Oracle. With that, they can use UCI-Shredder 8 then, too. IOW, they get a new engine for these older GUIs (I even have Shredder 5 from pre-chessbase times, and could most probably use it with this too). I just hope nobody who uses a UCI supporting non-chessbase GUI will actually complain because a UCI engine is released :-)) Btw. there seem to be chances that UCI-Shredders 6 or 7 will be available with SMK's own marketing of the UCI GUI, which was reported to be upcoming too. I don't know anything more about it yet. Maybe people who don't have a Shredder yet, will have more options to choose from soon. Regards, M.Scheidl
