I have also asked in this forum before, and it seems as it is impossible to prevent Fritz 5 from resigning. That is definitively the biggest disadvantage with Fritz 5. Even whwn playing engine-engine it is impossible to find out the shortest way to make mate because of that resigning. Is it possible to prevent the new Fritz 5.32 from resigning? Anybody who knows?
