Subject: How Kortchnoi could have remained in the FIDE top 100 list (O/T)

This is a late reply to the posts that were written about Viktor Kortchnoi
dropping out of the FIDE Top 100 rating list. He could have remained in the list
for the rest of his life if he had simply followed the Fischer method: stop
playing!

As reported in http://www.talkchess.com/forums/1/message.html?340131, Robert
Fischer is still officially rated the world's second best player, even though
very few people would expect him to get above the 2500 mark as an active player.
Rather than letting people see his playing standards wane, he simply retired
while he was at his best. Who knows? If Kasparov has a bad year over the next 12
months, Fischer might be number one in next year's list.
