The internal combustion engine used in the Wright brother's aircraft was VERY VERY different from a jet engine. It was sort of like a lawnmower engine with an aluminum block. Didn't have a starter or an oil pump, even. The jet engine is entirely different, like the microwave oven, these later designs share NOTHING in common with their predecessors, and I have not read Hyatt's post where he claims that because the prior engine or oven were first, the latter designs could not be patented. If that was so stated, it would clearly be in error. Welcome to the eye of the storm! :) Dave
