I use Fritz 8, Hiarcs 9, Chess Tiger 15, and Junior 8 as engines on playchess.com. Most of the games are played with time controls like 3'+2" and 5'+0". Are there any tweaks in the engine parameters that can "tune" the engine for these short time controls? I currently run these engines on the following computer: P4 2.8Ghz with Hyperthreading 512 MB of Corsair XMS PC3200 RAM Gigabyte GA81K1100 motherboard Seagate 120 MB HD with 8 MB buffer and 7200 RPM speed (IDE) I play over a fast broadband connection, use the default parameters, and usually allocate 64 MB of RAM for the hash tables to Fritz and Junior, 32 to Hiarcs, and 24 to CT15. The programs also have access to 3,4,and 5-piece tablebases (the whole 7 GB's worth). I'm looking for suggestions and ideas that I can play around with. I don't really care too much about winning (but it beats losing a lot!), but I do want to make sure the engines are going out there with all their weapons!
