I remeber a few years ago, before I ever joined CCC etc. I was staying by a strictly orthodox, satmar (chassidic) person in Williamsburg NYC, for a few days, who has little to do with the outside world, but had a computer with CM5k on it, and although he would not normally spend time on such things, this, somehow intrigued him (until he later got rid of it in a rage, and felt good about it afterwards! [an interesting character]). He is, however, a brilliantly intelligent person and understood very well what was going on with the game. Though, even though we don't speak much about it anymore, Chess Master 5000 is a very strong player, for a non-experienced anti-computer player. _I_ was the one however, who was supposed to have been the biggest expert in his house, at the time, and as I was playing a game against it, he was watching eagerly as I was trying tricks, and answering tricks move by move, until I was was taking longer and longer when things were getting more and more of a mess. Then, it came to a position when I just felt it I had just about burned my bridges and was a little bit stumped as to how to get some good counterplay back again, and nothing seemed attractive. And my host knew exactly what the position felt like to him too, and was eagerly waiting to see how I was going to get out of THAT one. But It was taking longer than usual, but he was waiting patiently without any problem (even though he usually has no patience for anything). Then I finally clicked on "MENTOR". Then he really bursted out laughing in agreement with me, and couldn't stop laughing for a long time, even a few days! S.Taylor
