You will find out, that I would prefer the following FEN string:

[FEN "rnbqckabnr/pppppppppp/8/8/8/8/PPPPPPPPPP/RNBQCKABNR w AC KQkq - 0 1"]

to encode the extended pieces 'AC' (only capital letters) additionally available
for promoting. Because in a later position all 'A' and 'C' may have vanished,
but promotion into those would still be valid, and I like to avoid specific
variant information to be added.
