I do all of my testing in the Chessbase GUI via UCI and haven't run into any
problems. The one criticism I have is that there is no way to run good
handicapped matches. The only thing you can do is give Shredder "9 ply" and your
engine "10" but it's a bit unrealistic, sometimes the time advantage is 5:1,
sometimes 2:1.

The main advantages of ChessBase vs Arena are better opening books and most
importantly you immediately have the games in ChessBase format for inspection
and analysis, nothing compares to ChessBase in this area IMO.
