The bet was about the relative strengths of Gothmog and Crafty. A couple of
days ago, I claimed that Gothmog 0.4.5 was at least 250 points weaker than the
most recent version of Crafty on a single-processor 32-bit computer. Martin
was brave enough to bet a beer that the difference was smaller, and I was
foolish enough to accept the bet. Michael replied by posting results
from games played between the two engines by you and himself, and the
results made it pretty evident that Martin had won the bet.
