Two interesting positions from the match, since we do not have the ability to see Gothic Chess diagrams with FEN... http://www.GothicChess.org/Ai6!!.gif The above position (black to move) looks like a problemists' construction, but it actually occurred after 1. d4 Nh6 2. Nh3 d5 3. Nc3 Na6 4. g3 c6 5. e4 Bg4 6. Bf3 Bxf3 7. Axf3 dxe4 8. Nxe4 Qb6 9. Neg5 j6 10. 0-0 Rd8 11. Nxf7 Axf7 12. Ng5 Ag6 13. Ce6+ Kg8 14. Cxg6 Rd5 15. Ai6 http://www.GothicChess.org/mate_in_8.gif And the above postion is white to move and mate in 8, found in 11 seconds by Vortex (it went 1 second overtime in our match of 10 seconds vs. 60 seconds.) Even diehard "chess only" dudes will have to say these positions are tactically very cool! --Ed
