Try this position both ways:

[d] 3r4/p3Nppk/3Prn1p/P7/4p3/1P3q2/2Q2P1P/3RR1K1 w - - 0 1

it just came up in a blitz match tinker/chompster

chompster lost, and played Nc6.

Chompster takes 10 depth, to see Nc6 is bad, with checks in qsearch it gets in
depth 7. So I turned checks in qsearch back on :)

I think the right move is Re3 as per crafty, but b4 isnt too bad either.

crafty also takes 10 plies, I think this is all null move error, as themoves
leading to the mate threat are all quiet dull moves.

crafty 19.3:
