Hi,

in my opignon you need practice and a good book. For practice buy an old and
cheep version of a chess program with many options(like chessmaster). Any
commercial program in any version is too strong. It should have the option to
reduce playing strength. Thats why most freeware chess engines wouldn´t fit. For
the book I like:  "The Game of Chess" by Siegbert Tarrasch
