I was born in Canada in 1950, Dave.  A candidate master is one step below a
national master according to the Oxford Companion to Chess pg. 55!  I do not
consider a weak expert who is USCF 2000 to be a candidate master. In any case I
play against programs that eat  masters for breakfast and I sometimes win (once
in a blue moon) and without cheating.

The important thing is to keep playing and enjoying these wonderful virtual
chess partners.
