Hello George, Thanks again for the game. I liked the gradual buildup in the first game you played. I am playing the games to the end, then backtracking one move at a time to see how Vortex may have misplayed. At one point it searches and finds a mate in 12 (24 plies!) in only 1 minute 33 seconds! There is a great deal of "check extensions" being used in that line! > >a)George-Gothic Vortex 1-0 >1. f2f4 d7d5 >2. g2g3 g7g6 >3. d2d3 Nb8c6 [snip] >50. j5xi6 h7xi6 >51. Nh4xi6 Qe7e8 >52. Ci4i3 Nd2f3 This is where the first misplay (from the end of the game) occurs. 52...Nf3?? loses, but 52...jxi6, which is much easier to find, will hold the draw. Vortex needs 12 seconds on my machine to trigger the research, then 25 seconds to announce the draw. After 52...jxi6 53. Bxi6 Ag6! should draw. The rook sac still can take place (I liked your 53. Rxj7 in the actual game, very nice) and 54. Rj8+ Kxj8 55. Cj5+ but black can hold the position from here. I will look over the rest of the game too, thanks again for sharing it.
