Hi Neil! there is an excellent and relatively inexpensive teaching software for someone in your shoes. I recieved a reviewer's copy from the US Chess Federation some years ago so I have had a look at it personally. For under $30 (USD) you can by a product developed by ChessAssistant(Convekta) called "Beginner's Chess School." The Sponsor of our board is a vendor for this item--it sells there for twenty-six dollars presently but it is not in stock (according to their inventory computer-- I do NOT work for them). However, the attached link affords you the opportunity to see some screen shots,.... http://www.icdchess.com/cgi-bin/store.cgi?page=1/15-450.html&item=15-450&cart_id=1976481.32521 best regards- marc On January 15, 2004 at 09:58:13, Neil Fulton wrote: >I'm an adult who has played and understands the basic rules of chess but would >like to learn the game well.
