No,it doesn't. You can not gain a lot of strength by just optimizing an outdated engine for a specific processor. SMK is light years ahead now. Shredder 7 was relatively weak in Blitz on PCs since it was tactically a bit slow. I played a Blitz match between Chess Genius 6 and Shredder 7 on a PC a year ago. I remember that I was surprised since it was rather balanced. I repeated that match now with Shredder 8 and it ended 16,5:3,5 in favour of Shredder despite the fact that both engines had to use the Genius book as it was played under the MCS-GUI and Shredder had to use two adapters. The longer the time control is the worse are the expected results for Chess Genius compared to Pocket Fritz 2. Pocket Fritz 2 (Shredder 7) needs very long time controls to play well on a PDA. I assume that would change a lot with a Pocket Fritz 3 based on the Shredder 8 engine. Michael
