Below the commented drawn game played today vs
Fritz 8 showing that it is still possible not
to lose against the best computer programs if
one knows how to do so:
Unten die kommentierte, heute gespielte Remis-Partie
gegen Fritz 8, die zeigt, dass es eben noch immer
möglich ist, gegen diese Monster zu bestehen, wenn
man weiss, wie man spielen muss:

Bxe4 Nf6 {Black last book move / Schwarz letzter Buchzug} 11. Bd3 cxd4 12. Nxd4
{The usual capture in this kind of position is 12.cxd4 but such unbalanced
positions are rather in favour of strong computer programs / Die uebliche Art
des Schlagens in diesem Stellungstyp ist 12.cxd4 aber derart dynamische
Stellungen sind eher zugunsten von starken Computerprogrammen} 12... e5 13. Nf5
e4 14. Nxe7+ Qxe7 15. Qe2 {A difficult and perhaps not the best decision
instead of the normal looking 15.Bc2 when White keeps the strong bishop pair.
But I did not want to lose a tempo / Ein schwieriger und vielleicht nicht der
beste Entscheid anstelle des normalen 15.Lc3, um das Laeuferpaar zu behalten.

A more accurate try was 17.Bg5 / Es war vernuenftiger, 17.Lg5 zu spielen} 17...

the feeling it would be good to exchange off the minor pieces and in
particular black's strong knight / Von Fritz 8 sehr konsequent gespielt, so
dass ich das Gefuehl hatte, die leichten Figuren und insbesondere das starke
schwarze Ross tauschen zu muessen} 20. Bxe5 Qxe5 21. Rad1 Qe6 22. b3 {
In order to not come into time trouble I played rather fast and overlooked
that after 22.Qb5 Qxa2 I could play the strong rook move 23.Rd7 / Um nicht in
Zeitnot zu kommen, spielte ich recht fluessig, uebersah deshalb nach 22.Db5
Dxa2 die gute Moeglichkeit 23.Td7} 22... Rac8 23. c4 f4 {Suddenly, it looks
somewhat dangerous for White / Ploetzlich sieht es fuer Weiss gefaehrlich aus}

I rejected my first idea 24.Rfe1 / Meine erste Idee 24.Tfe1 verwarf ich} 24...
Qg6 25. f3 {?! Makes things more difficult instead of the normal 25.Kh1 /
Macht die Sache unnoetig kompliziert statt des Normalzuges 25.Kh1} 25... Qb6+
26. Kh1 e3 27. Rfd1 Rcd8 {To get some compensation for black's strong passed
pawn I tried to get control over the open d-file / Um einige Kompensation fuer
den schwarzen Freibauern zu erhalten, wollte ich die offene d-Linie in
Beschlag nehmen} 28. R1d3 Qf6 29. Kg1 a6 30. Kf1 Rxd5 31. Rxd5 {Trusting my
feeling that this would be better than 31.cxd5 / Auf mein Gefuehl vertrauend,
dass diese besser sei als 31.cxd5} 31... b6 32. Kg1 {White has nothing else
than to wait if Black succeeds in improving its better position / Weiss hat
nicht viel anderes als abzuwarten, ob Schwarz seine bessere Stellung
verstaerken kann} 32... Rd8 {A surprise to my since I had expected 32...g5 /
Eine Ueberraschung fuer mich, denn ich hatte 32...g5 erwartet} 33. Qd1 Rxd5 34.
Qxd5+ Kf8 35. Qa8+ Kf7 36. Qd5+ Kg6 {It was my intention to get an easy draw
by perpetual checks but then I saw that after 37.Qe4 black's king could escape
to h6. Fortunately I found with 37.g4 a good move but at the same time
overlooked the even good possibility 37.g3 / Es war eigentlich meine Absicht,
durch ewiges Schach ein leichtes Remis zu erzielen, doch nach 37.De4 entwischt
der schwarze Koenig nach h6. Zu meinem Glueck fand ich dann 37.g4, uebersah
jedoch, dass selbst 37.g3 nicht schlechter gewesen waere} 37. g4 h6 (37... Qa1+
38. Kg2 Qxa2+ 39. Kh3 Qc2 40. Qe6+ Kg5 41. Qe5+ Kg6 42. Qe6+ Kg5 43. Qe5+ Kg6

Ehrlich gesagt, befuerchtete ich, dass dieses Bauernendspiel fuer mich

Black has no time to enter into white's camp with Kh4 / Bereitet b3-b4 und
c4-c5 vor, so dass Schwarz keine Zeit hat, mit Kh4 ins weisse Lager
einzudringen} 46... Kf6 47. b4 Ke6 48. Ke2 Ke5 49. Kd3 a4 {Only now did I
realize that Black cannot win with 49...axb4 50.axb4 e2 51.Kxe2 Kd4 52.c5 bxc5
since White has 53.b5 / Erst jetzt realisierte ich, dass Schwarz nach 49...
axb4 50.axb4 e2 51.Kxe2 Kd4 52.c5 bxc5 nicht gewinnen kann, weil Weiss das
