Hi A friend tested for me Shredder 8 vs Shredder 7.04 using the Haddad1.2DP5 and Master.ctg (available on my homepage). I haven't the games yet but it's the first time that my setting is crased in such a way against an engine, using these settings. 1234567890123456789012345678901234567890 1 Shredder 8 0½½½½½1½1111½111½½½½½½1½1½1½½½½1½½½½½½11 26.5/40 2 Shredder 7.04_Haddad1.2DP5 1½½½½½0½0000½000½½½½½½0½0½0½½½½0½½½½½½00 13.5/40 As usual, the tests have been done in Blitz Time Control 3mn for each engine, 64Mo Hash, TableBases and Learn Function enabled. You have to notice the great number of drawn games =25 +14 -1 for Shredder 8. I think that this big difference in the result is essentially due to the fact that Shredder 8 is much faster than Shredder 7.04. But there isn't a big difference between the two engines. Further tests in 3mn + 2s per engine will certainly be more accurate !! Other thing, it seems that the Master.ctg Book (or 10moves.ctg Book) fits more the style of play of Shredder 8.
