The Ponomariov Gambit in the Taimanov Sicilian is: 1 e4 c5 2 Nf3 Nc6 3 d4 cxd4 4 Nxd4 e6 5 Nc3 Qc7 6 Ndb5 Qb8 7 Be3 a6 8 Bb6. Junior 8 interpreted this position in shootout mode with the following continuation: 8...axb5 9 Nxb5 Ra5 10 Nc7 Ke7 11 Qd3 Ra4 12 Bc5 Draw. It is a draw because of the repetition 12...Kd8 13 Bb6 Ke7 14 Bc5. Is this really all the Ponomariov Gambit is good for? Is there a way to play for a win?
