Very interesting position indeed. I guess all good programs must have a way of pruning lines to search faster and better... but it's almost impossible to do this 100% accurate all the time. I suppose that Ruffian prunes this line as futile; after all, it does find the best tactical lines extremely quick, so its algorithms works damn fine for the statistically most common positions, although it fails in unusually exceptional positions such as this (I think it uses the almighty null-move technique, which seems to be very "sensitive" to these "surprise" kind of moves). It definitely pays off for Ruffian anyway! Ruffian is sometimes quite scary, but I'm still amazed by Shredder's "ability" to find moves like this sometimes. My own engine will hopefully find this move before I retire ;) Regards, Jaime
