Dear Members, I have a strange issue (aren't they all!). I've been having fun recently by creating my own computer opening book, based exclusively upon my Correspondence Chess openings/games. Then, I've been giving this book to various engines to try in tournament action versus their standard books. Generally my book has done better than the stand Fritz/Shredder/Hiarcs/Tiger books. Besides the fun of comparing my book lines to others, it also gives me a chance to have an "objective" evaluation of whether my opening theory is any good...or not. For the record, the engines often evaluate my lines as being unattractive to them. Still, they score well with them. Now here's the problem. In the CB GUI, the engines simply stop playing what's in their books after move 35. Yes, on can continue to put moves into the book after move 35, but the engines won't automatically play them. Most of you probably think - So what! Move 35 is already deep into the middlegame. Yes, that's true, but nonetheless, most engines can't figure out what to do next after move 35 in technical positions. My style of chess is technical versus tactical, and since the engines can't find tactics to suit them, they fail to find the "correct" technique to exploit the advantage my book has given them. Anyway, this isn't a big deal, but do any of you know why the CB people have stopped their engines from accepting moves after move 35? Is there a way to get the engines to play book moves after move 35? Thanks in advance. All the best, Stephen
